That's a lot of beer

This past Saturday, thieves made off with 4 tractor trailers filled with approximately 12,000 cases of Corona and Corona Extra Light beer from a Cobourg parking lot. Cobourg, Ontario is located about about 75 miles east of Toronto and so far 3 empty trucks have been recovered but the fourth truck and the $500,000 in beer is still at large.

Sure most thieves will steal anything that is not bolted down, and somethings that are, but 12,000 cases of beer? What does one do with that much Corona - besides have the largest Cinco de Mayo party north of the border? I hope that the Cobourg find several inebriated hijackers on the side of the highway 401 before stolen Mexican beer finds it's way into local bars and taverns setting off an international and NAFTA alert.

Seriously, the investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Cobourg police at 905-372-2243 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
