Wine MBA

Sonoma State University has been a leader in Wine education with it's Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Wine Business Strategies Degree program and Professional Development Courses. This fall they are adding the next level of education - a Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Wine Business.

The Wine MBA is the natural next step in the wine degree education and it looks like Sonoma State has but together a fairly encompassing curriculum for students including standard MBA foundation courses including Accounting, Marketing and Finance. Their MBA required courses go a little deeper in management with classes such as Management Information Systems, Strategic Human Resource Management and Global Wine Business. The electives for the degree add some true industry insight with courses such as Marketing and Sales Strategies for Wine and Sustainability in the Wine and Hospitality Industry. The capstone course for the entire degree is a culminating project intended to show original and independent thinking and requires public defense.

Sonoma State University allows for this degree to be completed in no longer than 7 years and offer Graduate courses in the evening which allows working adults to continue to work as they learn. Hopefully they will add a virtual option to these classes in the near future to allow us now northern California MBA students to take some their classes as well [now I'm just whining about not being able to go]. Good luck to all the new MBA students starting at Sonoma this fall.
