Brew Years Eve

Tomorrow mark's the 74th anniversary of the first step in the repeal of prohibition, dubbed Brew Years Eve. On April 7th 1933, newly elected President Franklin D. Roosevelt urged Congress to modify the Volstead Act, allowing for legal consumption of one - and only one -libation for the first time in 13 years. That beverage was beer. It was not until eight months later, December 5th to be exact, that the 21 Amendment was ratified ending probation.

Looking for more information, including where you can celebrate locally? Check out the Brew Years Eve website, run by the Brewers Association. And on Saturday, raise a pint of your local brew and toast to the first legal libation to herald in the repeal of Prohibition.
